Belly binders

I am 7 days op. What exactly is the purpose of a belly binder? Does it help with the swelling? I am thinking of buying one. Where can they be purchased?

Dear Strong,

I used my belly binder from the hospital that helped with keeping the discomfort level down and also supports the abdominal area, especially when I needed to walk or do light household chores. I wish you well with your recovery.

Re: Belly binders

I bought a rib binder and love it. I am short at 5'3" and am short torso as well. My waist is about 24" without swelling so most abdominal binders were too tall and too long. To avoid the rolling of the elastic I liked the idea of the shorter rib binder. I bought mine at the home health store in town that sells beds/ walkers/supports and such The girls were really helpful trying to find something to help. Good luck

Re: Belly binders

I have been using the one from the hospital also but am finding now that it's too stiff so was going to look for a softer one. I just need it to provide a bit of support and to free my hands up some. Just having a hard time figuring out where to get one in town so I don't have to wait for shipping.

Re: Belly binders

I'm confused- do u need one for support and a separate one for swelly belly? What does the belt do for u if your belly is swollen?? Does it help reduce swelling? Where is the best place to buy these belts/binders?
