How can I explain this?

Well I am new to this , I am convinced my family think I am going mad not having a TAH. The truth is I'm not sure which it is. I have just sat here and read some of your threads and realise it's not just me . I'm scheduled for 12/2/02 and it is I think the longest 5 weeks of my life. Talk about screwed up , I'm trying to function as a normal person and I can't, but after reading some of your messages, I now have hope for me, my husband and my son,14yrs. Not to mention the small zoo we have, god only knows how I'm going to cope with those, at the moment I can't deal with myself.

Glad I could be here

Hi Jue! Welcome to Hystersisters! Are you having a TAH? If so, it's very understandable that you are nervous about it. I had a TVH (total vaginal hysterectomy) in August and I was very nervous about it too. But, now I am glad I did it.

Maybe you are having your surgery on 2/2/02? You will be in my thoughts and prayers. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask. Follow your doctor's orders and you'll do just fine. DH and children may need to take care of the critters for awhile. You will need to find out from your doctor how much he wants you to lift for 6-8 weeks. And you'll need lots of rest with your feet up.

My very best wishes to you....

Please dont be afraid, i had a tah/fibroids last march and it was the best thing ever.
The hardest part was the waiting, i have dogs and kids and fish and i thought how will i cope but i did,
Nothing will ever be worse than what your putting up with now,

Imagin a life pain free, well thats what its like for a few weeks of discomfort, it just gets better and better after, i promise you that, i put every obsticle i could find trying to not have it, but its the best thing i ever did, i hope you do make the right descision.

How can I explain this?

Hi Jue,

(First, for anyone else who was confused about the date like I was, Jue is in the UK, where "12/2/02" is February 12th, not December 2nd.)

OK, here's an idea for dealing with the coming weeks - I got it from a sister who posted when I was pre-op - she said she was spending way too much time stressing out about everything. What she did was to set aside some time each day (maybe an hour in the morning, and an hour in the evening?) to make lists, read posts on this site, get things ready, etc. You may need more on a few days, of course, (for shopping, cleaning...) but maybe that trick will help you keep on an even keel, while still letting you read and learn what you need to know.

And you are right, you are far from alone - everyone seems to obsess over ever detail beforehand. Don't worry, you'll get through these 5 weeks one way or another, and be on the road to recovery before you know it.
