embarrassing diarrhea question almost 3 weeks post op

I've tried calling my doc about this but what am I supposed to do, hoping fellow sisters know...

Took my kids to the bus this morning. Was feeling a little upset to my stomach. By the time I got in the front door, I um, pooped myself. Totally unexpectedly, but now I am worried some is left in my vagina and will cause chaos at the cuff :/

Please. Anyone else have this happen so early after surgery? I know douching is NOT allowed but worried about infection.


Eta: I spoke with my doc and he said to just use feminine wipes and keep as clean as possible. Of course I am still freaking out though. And feeling kinda silly for jumping on here when I couldn't get a hold of him quickly enough for my nerves :/

The vagina is self cleaning. I wouldn't worry unless you see signs in a day or two of infection.

Sucks that that happened to you.

I was having multiple VERY soft bms after I finally had my first one after surgery...from all the stool softeners that I took. I couldn't wipe very well back there....because of the soreness. (I had a rectocele repair along with my TVH) What I finally did was to stand in the shower with my back to the shower head......and let the warm water flow down over my bottom. It was VERY soothing and I felt MUCH cleaner afterwards. It felt so good that I did it for the front as well. (Just make sure the water is flowing down your body, not up... towards, or ON your sore parts!)

not sure why you question that in would get to the cuff. First of all, your feces should not have any contact on it normal way out. if you are concerned that it just came in contact with your vaginal/urethra area then just clean it well (normally) and it should be fine. Gravity should prevent any from getting all the way up into the vagina to the end by the cuff.

Diarrhea isn't embarrassing. It's a part of life. I wouldn't stress over this. I'm sure you're fine. Your tummy does all sorts of weird things after surgery before it becomes "normal" again. I can only pray for diarrhea right now as my pain meds are blocking me. Lol

I am also almost 3 week post op and I have had 9 poops similar to my bowl prep. Should I be worried?

Are you still taking stool softeners etc? If so...maybe you could back off of them a bit and add more fiber. I had the same thing happening the day after my first BM because I took so many different things to get them moving. It's been fine since adjusting the amounts.
