Cure for constipation

Hi Sisters,

After suffering with constipation for six months post op I finally found a cure. I will list what worked for me, and what other things that you might find helpful. First I want to say that the doctor and two specialists did not help me that much and had me on the strongest constipation medicine Amitizia. It's very expensive, but I don't need it. Here is what worked for me.

Plain and simple, about 8 dried apricots in the morning and evening, or for snacks, OR 8 prunes twice a day with plenty of water each day about 32 ozs.

Here are some other things that can be added to help. Activia yougart, magnesium, fiber foods (key is drink water). If you have fiberous foods and no water, you will actually get more constipated.

Anyhow it took me months to find these simple things and I hope it helps you.

Remember, with the above items, lots of water.

Thanks for the tips! Water is definitely the key for me. I just have such a hard time drinking enough water everyday.

Re: Cure for constipation

Ive been eating prunes too and believe it or not coffee with milk in it helps too...but I agree totally with plenty of water...water is all that I drink(aside from the coffee with milk.

Re: Cure for constipation

Thanks Redheart! I have been struggling with bloating and gas. I have heard this can happen after surgery. I have increased my fruits and vegetables and just bought some Activia to try :-)
