TAH Vertical incision and belly button?!

Hi Ladies - I had a vertical incision from my belly button to my bikini line when I had my TAH nearly 4 weeks ago. I've got a lot of excess skin from both pregnancies and weight loss and so my belly button is a bit droopy! I don't know why, but I lifted it up today and at the very top of my incision it's very slightly red and a little bit smelly! Should I be worried at all? Obviously that area of the incision hasn't been getting as much air as the rest because of my stupid droopy skin! Anyone else experienced anything similar?

I have the same incision. I was told it had to be done that way because my uterus was so big. I am more red and tender right above my my bikini line which is where my extra skin droops. I wish the doc could have done a tummy tuck while I was a sleep for the hyst

Thanks for your reply Carrie, I did actually seriously enquire about the tummy tuck at the same time, but evidently it's not a good idea - there's so much swelling, etc from the hyst that my doc said the tummy tuck could end up looking like a botch job! He said to wait 6-12 months post hyst and then review it... I'm seriously thinking of saving up to get it done! My tummy is much flatter now that the fibroid is out, but I'd love to get rid of the excess skin!

Hi I have the same, underneath my droopy belly I have a tender red spot. As you say because it doesn't see any air. Mine incision meets my c section scar and it's over that, that I have the sore quite red spot. Unless I lift the excess belly up I can't see it. My Gyn gave me a slight tummy tuck but with my swelly belly you cannot see any difference!

I have the same incision and I made sure every day that I cleaned my belly button because I was worried about infection. I use a q-tip after a shower.

Well I went to see my doc today - thought I should have it looked at as it was a bit sore. Doc said there appeared to be a mild infection so I've got some antibiotic cream to apply three times a day.

Yeesh. I hope it stays a mild infection and doesn't get worse.

Mine incision is a bikini cut under my extra skin. Now that it is completely healed (took longer than normal) I wipe it with alcohol to keep it clean.

I've been having the same issues. Thankfully my insurance will pay for a tummy tuck because of the saggy skin. I had a very large uterus because of fibroids and adenomyosis ( spell check). I also have a red spot, I had a bikini cut from a c-section, then the vertical cut from my hysterectomy. It also got infected from moisture and lack of air. I've been on antibiotics, but I'm afraid that after they're done of it getting infected again from lack of air.
