Tubes in or Out?

I am scheduled for my TVH on July 17 for poss. Adno, fibroids and uterine prolapse. My doc told me that he was going to leave my tubes and ovaries in. (tubes are already tied). My downfall, my stepmother is also a gyno, she told me that I could still suffer some discomfort from ovulation and asked why he decided to leave them in. I was under the impression that leaving them in was a good thing now I'm confused. Anyone with tubes left in tact have any input?

Hi Cookie,

I chose to keep my tubes and ovaries. I haven't really had any problems so far (I'm 5 weeks post op), but I never really had any pain during ovulation anyway.

I'm ing this back up, so maybe someone else will be along who can shed some light on the subject.

s,

Lisa

Tubes in or Out?

I'm confused...is your stepmother's concern that TUBES will be left in, or that the ovaries will be?

Tubes in or Out?

I have both tubes and ovaries. My doc explained that she feels the blood supply feeds both, and its easier to retain the blood supply to the ovary if you leave the tube.

I do notice ovulation, was very evident for the first few months post op. Things are much "calmer" and less noticeable now.
