cleared for bath or swimming after hysterectomy?

Obviously I'm not cleared yet, since I just had di vinci surgery 1 week ago today. I had uterus, cervix, both tubes, & rt ovary removed.

But when were you or will you be cleared to take a bath or go swimming? I'm a bath lover & showers everyday are ok, but I miss a good soak in a tub. Also i have 2 children & it is summer... I'd like to be able to play with them at the pool. And start swimming laps again. I need to lose at least 50 lbs & get healthy again. I'm hoping with pain gone I can do that now.

Re: cleared for bath or swimming after hysterectomy?

My doc said bath and swimming is approved at 2 weeks. I wonder if it makes a difference in time if you kept your cervix and don't have a vaginal cuff...

Re: cleared for bath or swimming after hysterectomy?

Mine said 6 weeks. "Nothing in the vagina" included water. Plus, yucky bath water or yucky pool water up there? No. It kept me out of the pool the whole of last summer. Luckily the water was still tolerable in September here in sunny Florida.

I kept my cervix and it was 7 weeks but as I said I had repairs done too. At my 7 week appt I wore swim goggles and swim fins on the examination table so he couldn't say no!

Re: cleared for bath or swimming after hysterectomy?

I was given the green light the next day. My Dr said there are studies that show it's ok but do ask yours. With my adeno I loved my baths and they are so relaxing. I had a TVH.
