Re: 6 days post hysterectomy: Body aches / insomnia

Insomnia is really common after major surgery. It's very frustrating when you're exhausted but can't sleep. I was able to fall asleep ok, but would wake at 1:00 or 2:00 am and be up the rest of the night. I decided to go with it and I got my sleep whenever I could - day or night. The insomnia seems to typically last a few weeks.

Article: Insomnia

I didn't have body aches, although I did feel like I'd been hit by a truck the first few days. Are you taking anything for pain? Keep yourself as comfortable as possible, as we heal better when we aren't dealing with pain. Lots of rest, lots of water, and frequent short walks around the house.

Sending you hugs and hoping you're feeling better!

I'm 6 days post op too, have you spoken with your doctors about your pain? I found that if I was in pain I could not sleep, please go see your GP/doctor as they can give you stronger pain medication, I hope you feel improved soon! X

.
I have spoke w my Dr (I also had a rash most likely from the steril pre- wash) he suggested Benadryl help sleep and rash , it has helped the rash but I fall asleep sometimes only for an hour or 2 . Hopefully it will go away in a couple weeks. I didn't really mention the body because it's not really pain it's like an arthritic ache all over . I am suppose to speak w him again on Tuesday so maybe I'll mention it.
