uterus size and cysts?

Ok now, new question for all you princess' and LIW... I obtained the report to the doctor about the ultrasound that I had. It gave the dimentions of my uterus size. I am curious what the " normal size would be? I know everybody probably varies, but would anybody out there know? The report says that my uterus is 8.5 x 4.9 x 5.6cm... does this seem large? Or "normal"? Also my doctor is waiting to see what my ovaries "look" like to decide wether or not he removes them. In the US report it says that I have a cyst on each ovarie measuring 1.3cm each. I have a lot of trouble with pain in my left overy every month and I truly think that it is because of the cyst. What is anybodys opinion on this? If you were me would you talk to the doctor about having them removed? I heard that cysts can get worse and cause a lot of problem with pain later. Is this something I should make an appt for or wait until I talk to the doctor on my beloved day of sugery?
I know I would prefer to have everything taken out..I have had enough pain already I don't want anymore in the future! LOL
Thanks everybody for all your helpful answers to this and my past questions I have posted!
Much love,

uterus size

I too have been trying to figure out the "normal" size for a uterus. My sonogram measured mine at 8.1 cm in length X 4.1 cm in diameter X 5./1 cm in width. Since I assume it would make a difference, I have never been pregnant.

uterus size and cysts?

carrie -

I can't tell you much about uteus sizes but my uterus was 9x6x5cm the day they took it out. it also weighed 108 grams. I also had cysts on my ovaries. On my left ovary the cysts varied from 2 to 6 mm in diameter. the right had cysts measuring from 1-5 mm. My dr.said he could leave one of my ovaries in but would probably have to remove it with in 3 months because of the way I develop cysts. I decided to go on and have them removed and after finding out about all the cysts I had I am glad that I did. I'm five weeks post now and am feeling great. I no longer have any back pain at all. I suggest that you talk to you dr. more and also seek a second opinion. I used my family dr as the 2nd opinion since he was the one who sent me to the specialist in the first place.

Keep your chin up and I'm glad that you found the Hystersister. We'll be here whenever you need us!!!

uterus size and cysts?

I've been studying my post op pathology report, and it's not an easy task! I've been spending alot of time on the net trying to figure out the medical lingo....

Maybe some of my info will help...I had an enlarged uterus...The normal size is 50-60 gm. Mine was 383 gm, measuring 11.8 cm X 6.7 cm X 6 cm. So, I figure mine was about 7 - 8 times the weight it should be..which accounts for the additonal measurements.

I'm still studying the report....anybody know what an 'excrescence' is?

uterus size and cysts?

Found this on a search...

"In a woman who has never had children, the average uterus is about 8 cm long by 5cm wide by 2.5 cm thick; in a woman who has had a child, those measurements are about 9 by 6 by 4 cm. Since 1 inch equals 2.5 cm, in a woman who hasn't had children, the uterus is about 3 x 2 x 1 inch."

Mine is coming in at 14.4 X 8.9 X 7.6 cm. I'll be glad to have this all over with soon. 3 weeks!!
Good luck to you Carrie. I'll be waiting to hear how it goes.
