Thoughts of post-op possibilities frighten me
Hi Ladies,
I'm due to have my TAH in July. They will take ovaries, cervex and any remaining endo from laparotomy in March.
After that operation I was in more pain than I knew exsisted and I have had a c-secion! They spent 4 hours of peeling endo from everyplace. It took me 11 days to be able to be up enough to venture downstairs to kitchen (it amazed me how much this trip hurt and exhuasted me). Showers only by leaning on the wall. Another week was spent in bed (pain, tired, weak, depression?). Another week of being up until noon then wiped out the rest of the day in bed. By week 5 I felt confident to drive and could make it throuth the day if I lay down for a bit.
Will the TAH be this bad, worse, better? They may also have to due a bowel resection due to endo.
They want to put me on Lupron to keep the endo at bay and HRT. I'm 99% sure I'm not doing the Lupron. How will HRT make me feel? Is there one more successful than others. Will I cry all the time, be depressed have menopause affects?
I've seen here so many happier after hyster, yet so many seem to suffer after. I know we are all different but I'm the kind of person who needs to know all the possibilities from those who have lived not a DR that does the operation but has never felt the reasons for the operation.
Sorry so long, but this is overwhelming to me. Thanks for the input and for letting me get it out.

Thoughts of post-op possibilities frighten me
Hi there!
I found your post on the post op side and have moved it here since you have not had your surgery yet.
As you have probably read on these boards, postop feelings, symptoms, and overall results vary so much from gal to gal; there really is no predicting how yours is going to be.
I wish I could tell you that yours will be problem-free with no side effects, but it's just not something you can know beforehand.
We are here for support, no matter. You'll read here just about any and every aspect of before hyst and after hyst experiences. The best suggestion I can give is to
(1) Go into this with a positive attitude and with self-assurance that this is the best course to take under your personal medical circumstances.
(2) Try not to go into this *expecting* certain outcomes, i.e., emotions, complications.... we're human beans, and if we get our minds set that something not-so-wonderful *will* happen, I think we're more likely to experience it that way.
There are no guarantees, as your DR may have told you. Many have gone through this to find wonderful improvements in their overall health and wellbeing. I'm hoping that will be the case with you, too!
Keep reading; stick around. You will find so much support here.
s,
