LSH with laparotomy incision?

I am 10 days PO recovering from LSH with an incision to remove my uterus and fallopian tubes due to current controversy with laparoscopic morcellation. I have looked around on the boards here and haven't found too much information. Has anyone else had this added incision to LHS? Has it affected your recovery time? Thanks for any input.

Re: LSH with laparotomy incision?

I would think the recovery is similar to an abdominal surgery.
We all have similar recovery times. Just some feel more like themselves faster than some others.
First three weeks, your body deals with the shock of surgery then the next three weeks, your internal stitches dissolve and can have sharp pains and discharge with that and then you start to get back to your normal life.
hope this helps a bit.
Take great care and keep us posted on your progress

Re: LSH with laparotomy incision?

I didn't have the same procedure that you did - I had a full abdominal incision. But, I still found my recovery to be pretty quick and easy. I think because of the supracervical procedure that I had.

Having had the supracervical procedure, you should have an easier, quicker recover. There is no stitched vaginal cuff, and no ligaments that are cut off the uterus and reattached to the vagina.
