3 weeks post hysterectomy - is it normal to lose weight after?

I am surely not complaining, but I have lost almost 10 lbs since my surgery. While I did not eat normally my first post op week, I am eating pretty much eating normally now. However, besides walking a little outside for exercise, I am no where near my normal exercise routine. Has anyone else experienced weight lose like this? I had a TAD and I thought that if anything, I would gain a few pounds after surgery while recuperating.

I've lost about 5 pounds since surgery I think mainly because my appetite has just not been all that great. I'll take it though; not complaining.

Re: 3 weeks post hysterectomy - is it normal to lose weight after?

I lost about 12 pounds after surgery. I wasn't eating that much the first week post op because I knew I was spending a lot of time in bed or on the couch and I was afraid I would gain weight. The second week I also watched what I ate because I was so impressed with the first week's weight loss. Now I am in the third week and my appetite is going crazy and I gained 7 pounds back. However, I did go on a horrendous road trip ( another post altogether) where I developed a UTI, ended up at a filthy clinic in North Carolina because I couldn't pee from my bladder sling surgery and had to visit every other rest area and Cracker Barrel between Florida and Virginia. More stops to attempt to pee result in buying snacks and I ate everything from twizzlers and Fritos to McDonalds and Wawa subs. Mind you, before surgery, I had lost 60 pounds by sticking to a high protein low carb diet. I am not a happy camper right now but plan on getting back on track. I worked way too hard to let this hysterectomy and bladder sling get the best of me.

Re: 3 weeks post hysterectomy - is it normal to lose weight after?

I have a feeling this is pretty common. I was a little shocked to weigh myself recently and saw I had lost 14 pounds since my surgery on April 1st! I think part of it was because for several days after my surgery, my appetite was so small I could barely eat more than a few bites of food at a time. I also am guessing that our bodies are burning a huge amount of energy in trying to heal. I wouldn't let it worry you.

Thanks ladies for your replies. If I stay this weight I'll be happy. I just started bioidenticals literally this morning and hoping weight remains low.

I lost about 8 pounds in the first few weeks. Then my appetite and energy came back and I started snacking out of boredom and gained 4 back fast. I was pretty happy to go back to work last week even though it wiped me out.
