Pain Comparison
I am sheduled to have a SAH surgery done on Monday, 6/13. 4 years ago I had a myomectomy to remove a huge fibroid and 4 smaller orange size fibroids that I had ignored for 4 years. I was wondering if there is anyone out there that has had both surgeries and can tell me if they have experienced significantly more pain with the SAH. I am very nervous and need some support. Thanks

Hi Jeanne550:
I'm sorry I can't answer your question- I had a TAH.
But I'll send you and a and send you back to the top where someone can hopefully answer your question.
Good luck and I'm sending you a healing thought and some support for your nervousness.

Pain Comparison
I never had a myonectomy, so I can't really answer this question with any experience, either.
For what it's worth, though -- I did have three abdominal surgeries (well, I guess 4, but I don't remember the one I had when I was 3-1/2 years old ) and all three were distinctly different recoveries. It all has to do with the particular surgery, whether or not there is scar tissue or more repairs that need to be done, your overall condition, and a hundred other factors.
However, since you are having part of an organ removed, I would guess that you're going to have a slightly slower recovery than after they myonectomy. But that's just a guess on my part.
In all honesty, the initial recovery from my hysterectomy was easier than my first c-section, which happened back in 1988 when I weighed 50 pounds less and was in much better shape.
