10 days on... tight and heavy

It's day 10 from my op and I am wondering if it's normal to feel a heaviness and tightness in the lower abdomen. I had a SAH leaving the cervix. Any posts appreciated, thanks.

10 days on... tight and heavy

Hi aussie-angel
It can be normal. How much are you trying to do? I would have what I would describe as heaviness when I was up and on my feet for too long. I think it can be caused by swelling.
I had a tvh with other repairs so didn't experience exactly what you are I'm sure, but there are similarities. Hopefully some other SAH ladies will reply too. If you've been up a lot try resting some more to see if it helps.

10 days on... tight and heavy

I felt the same way you do when I would be on my feet for too long. Felt like I had a basketball sitting in there. Thought it was weird because they had just taken everything out. It helped me to carry my "piddow" (as my DD calls it) and hold it right on top of the incision and kind of hold everything up. The best solution when I felt that way was to go to bed for a while and just put my feet up. If my bed wasn't available, just to kinda "lounge" in a chair helped.

Hope you have an uneventful recovery. Remember to take it easy.

10 days on... tight and heavy

Thanks girls, I haven't been up that much to be honest and when I am out of bed, I'm either sitting here at the computer or sitting on the lounge watching telly. It feels tight and heavy now yet I've done nothing more than go to the loo twice and walk to the computer. Mind you, it would have to be my only complaint really aside from the odd sharp stab from gas pain. Luckily both bladder and bowels are on system normal and I feel generally ok, just a tad fatigued (which anyone would after lying around the house for 5 days!!) When did anyone else head out ie to the shops, visit a friend after their surgeries?? I have not left the house in 5 days... am I taking it TOO easy?????

My girlfriend had a TAH and when we chatted once she told me she told the doctor, "yea sure you take everything out and put a baby in there didn't you". I also have that feeling so I think it is pretty much the norm. xo
