A Change In Plans

My doctor called me this morning. He has already talked to my insurance company, and they won't pay for a TAH unless its a life threatening condition. They will pay for LAVH, so he needed to make sure I wanted to proceed with that. He told me if they have any trouble getting the uterus out they can switch over to doing the surgery abdominally...they would pay for it that way. He said I'm the second case that morning, and he told me which doctor would be assisting him.

Well, I guess that means less down time for me, right? I was very worried about how I was going to handle my 2 year daughter, she is a very demanding and clingy child!

HI Analyn -

I think that sounds like a change for the better! My two cents - the less invasive, the better. Shorter down time, quicker recovery, how 'bout your hospital stay - does that shorten up too?

I opted for lap based exactly on those facts. And just think - your daughter will be able to sit in your lap only a few days after you return home. What do you think?

He's planning for me to stay in the hospital about 2 days, 1 if I am doing extremely well! He said he wanted to do a TAH, because he wanted to be able to see any spots of endo if there are any...but I guess he can do this with the lap camera too!

Some Drs say they can actually see Endo easier with a Lap Cam. I am not sure why. maybe less light/contrasting light?
