Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jul 09-Jul 15,2012

If your hysterectomy was between Jul 09-Jul 15,2012 this is the place to post your progress during your hysterectomy recovery.

If you have a question about your recovery, please start a new thread to receive answers and support for your concerns instead of including the question in your update! There is information on how to start a new thread in this link: New Here? or you can use this link: Post a New Topic in the Post-Op forum.

Post how you are doing here when you are home and well enough to sit a few minutes at your computer.

We hope you are recovering well with plenty of rest and water and a bit of walking. Don't forget to pamper the princess!

How to use the Recovery Progress Reports thread:

  • 1. This thread is for the purpose of sharing updates on your recovery as you heal from your hysterectomy.

  • 2. Generally, ONE or TWO posts on this thread per member/per day is adequate to share your daily progress and to share encouragement with your surgery week Sisters.

  • 3. Remember to start a new thread on the Post-Op message board to ask your questions.

  • 4. The Progress Report threads will be moved at approximately 8 weeks post-op to the Date Club forum inside the HysterSisters clubhouse.

  • 5. Remember all the love and support you got here as a pre-op member? Now it's YOUR turn to give back to the women in the Pre-Op Hysterectomy Support forum. Extend your hand and your hugs in replies to our pre-op ladies in waiting. This will complete our circle of women helping women!

  • 6. You can also share support and experiences with post-op members in all phases of recovery in the Post-Op Hysterectomy Support forum by replying on the new threads they create.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jul 09-Jul 15,2012

I made it through!!! :-). I am in the hospital now. So I had a laposcopy in jan to remove the endo. My timeline to stay in the hospital was anywhere from 2-5 days depending how much scar tissue I had inside, and possibly cut me open like a c-section. (The doc thought that the scar tissue was causing the pain after the last surgery).

Well the scar tissue actually wasn't that bad so no c-section cut but the doc confirmed that the endo was back with a vengence, and my right ovary was completely covered with cysts (we were planning on taking it out anyways). She said almost all of the endo was on my uterus and R ovary. So since it went so good I will get to go home tomorrow evening. The pain isn't so bad yet, but I have a morphin push button that I get to push every 10 min. o_O

I can't wait to hear more good news from all of you!

Made it to the post op side. Surgery was at 1:30, made it out for recovery about 6p.m.

Loving the pain med button. I am very tirered. I have passed a few gas buttons. I have an ice pack on the incision. I keep dozing off.

I have not got up to walk, still have catherder.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jul 09-Jul 15,2012

welcome dhassing.
Yeah this is my first time with the pain med button. Normally I am at the mercy of the nurses to give me my meds. Don't feel bad at pushing it as soon as you are able to.

My morphine is causing a weird reaction to me, but I opted to stay on it. I can receive a dose every 10 minutes. However, it was making me nauseous, so i am taking a dose every 20-30 min and accepting a level higher of the pain.

That and it is causing my heart rate to drop down. It is ranging between 40-55, so my stupid machine beeper keeps going off and keeps waking me up scaring me. lol.

Saw the doctore this morning. He took out the cervx, uterus, fallopian tubes, and scar tissue. He left the ovaries. Everything went very well. Today I am sitting in a chair, but am SUPER tired. Doctor says I can go home tomorrow. This will be a lesson on how to relax.

Hope everyone is recovering well.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jul 09-Jul 15,2012

It is 2.40 AM!!!! (I am in Australia. It is 11th July) I had my full hysterectomy surgery about 8.30 yesterday morning. I woke to find doc could only do partial hyster. Will find out why later this am. Am hoping he cauterised - for my bleeding issues were my main reason for the much wanted op. I slept/woke/slept all day. I had a pain med button, which was great, but the gremlins got hold of it and the machine broke down :/ As this was late at night, a fix was not achieved - so, alas, I am at the mercy of my lovely nurses. I found pain did not increase, but my tummy has gotten tight. Have managed a couple of wind buttons ...minor discomfort inside just before wonderful release My ward neighbour has interesting sleep sounds, but only the rare snore. Hubby is FAR worse lol. I am awake now because I keep snoring!!! This is something that started about a year ago if I sleep on my back. Since I am a side sleeper, this has not been a problem ....except now of course, post op I cannot turn on side as yet!!! Therefore, as I start dosing off, I snort myself awake lol. Am not worried. I have heaps of recovery time for sleep hope others r doing as well as I am, if not more

Went into surgery at 9:30, and was home in the comfort of my bed by 7pm that night. I had a TVH with general anesthesia. Home with pain meds and IB. All went beautifully and I feel pretty good. Nice to see all of you on the other side recouping well.
