Should I have bladder repair while there in there?

When I went for my pre-op physical the other day the Dr. asked me about Incontinance. I explained that I do have problems and she said I had stress incontinance and urge problems as well. She said that I should go ahead and have that taken care of while I was getting my TAH. My question is this. I have three children 4,2 and 2 months. What are the restrictions for lifting with the bladder repair and how long. I think when my mother had it done a few years ago she could not lift over 20lbs for like 6 months and she still has to be careful. I don't want to have it done if that is the case because of still having young children.

Wish I could have a tummy tuck while they were doing this.

Should I have bladder repair while there in there?

I am having a TAH on Tuesday and I am having the bladder repair done and the impression I get is the recovery is the same time. As far as lifting restrictions, I was told nothing heavier than a gallon of milk for the first 6 weeks.

My lifting restrictions are nothing over 12lbs for three months. You may want to double-check this area with your DR.

I did not have bladder repair. I did have a TVH on June 21. Remember that there is the 6 to 8 week period that you have many restrictions on what you can do and not do. Alot of things that I have read say's it really takes the body 6 months to a year to heal. If you need the bladder repair and your doctor recommends it, it sounds like something that you should consider. Get both over at one time.
Good luck on your decision.

I had the TVT mesh strip placed around the urethra for stress incontinence when they did my TVH. It is the best thing I ever did!!! I no longer have to worry about if I have a pad on when I have a cold. I don't have that constant leak while coughing, sneezing or laughing. I don't know about jumping or running yet since I have not been cleared for either. My lifting restriction is no more than 10 pounds for 4 weeks and no more than 20 pounds for 2 weeks more. After reading other dr. recommendations on here I am going to limit myself for longer but that is just my own doing. My dr. said after 6 weeks I could return to normal lifting.

Good luck with whatever you decide!!
