1 more week....

In only one week, I will be going in for my hysterectomy. I'm getting very nervous and have some questions...I am scheduled to have a LAVH, how was everyone's recovery time? When were you able to do all your normal activities? Was it a WHOLE 6 WEEKS?? I know I can't have sex..... But do I have to wait 6 weeks for the "big O" too?? Sorry if this seems a bit much...I just have so much running through my head right now.

I had a TLH a week ago and I feel great. Yes your doctor will tell you what you can and can't do. Mine is 8 weeks recovery time and he made sure that no sex what so ever. I understand with you being nervous because I was before my surgery and I can tell you from my experience that surgery was not that bad. I didn't remember going to sleep. Hours will feel like a second to you. Hysterectomies are a common procedure and you have doctors and nurses are skilled at this and will take care of you. As the big O I'm not sure about that. Ask your doctor about it.

The restrictions on your activities are very important - it allows you body to heal. Remember you get only once chance to heal right. And it will be six weeks (or more) before you can return to normal activities, and then you have to ease into them SLOWLY.

As far as orgasms in the restricted time period, my understanding is that those would be off limits as well. You want to let the tender tissues heal. All outercourse and intercourse was off limits for me.

I know it sounds like a lifetime, but you will get through it. You will also be quite exhausted, and may not even be interested.
