why no caffine after surgery?

I was served coffee with each meal in the hospital. I don't drink coffee. However, few hours after surgery, I got a wolloping headache which stayed with me until I got home. The doctors and nurses kept saying it was probably from the anesthesia and gave me more drugs. Nothing helped. The first thing I did when I got home was have a diet coke... guess what. No more headache. I hate to say it, but I guess I've trained my body to need the caffeine.

I was told that it could cause the gas pains to be worse from the carb.

I was offered coffee at the my first meal in the hospital.

I always drank 2 to 3 cups a day and after my surgery I didn't like the taste. It took about 2 weeks to get my taste back for it.

Well, they brought me coffee with breakfast and iced tea with lunch and dinner, so I had caffeine post-op. Didn't bother me at all.
