sprained ankle just days before surgery, can they cancel it ?

My hysterectomy date was bumped from last Fri April 26 to this Fri. May 3.Last night while walking my dog I fell and severely sprained my ankle. It is very bruised and swollen. I can walk on it though. Would they cancel my surgery due to this? I sure hope not,I've waited long enough.

Hi christinem1-

Oh no - sprained ankle! Can you even walk, or do you have crutches? Tell your doctor... they might cancel it as walking is part of the healing process.

I can't walk much due to a back problem but it hasn't changed my surgery or recovery. Tell your doctor but hopefully you will get the go ahead.

Re: sprained ankle just days before surgery, can they cancel it ?

Understandable!

Your surgery is May 3... just four days away... Very close and not much time for your poor ankle to heal. Plus, you cannot take anything for pain, swelling, and all that other intervention that would normally occur with this.

I would talk to your doctor. They may be able to bandage up your ankle well enough for you to walk. You really don't walk too far at first, but you walk fairly frequently.
