Crazy Question: C section

Both of my daughters were born c-section but this surgery seems much more serious than that was. I remember being told how to hold the baby, but this time my doctor says nothing more than a pound. What is the difference between the surgeries? Seems like there should have been more trouble after childbirth? Any ideas?

Hello Stacie

I haven't had a c-section, but I have had my hyst. June 18th and take my word for it I am soooo happy I did. Now IMHO if you are actually having something that has been in your body since birth removed compared to a baby which has just been in resident for 9 months, it is very much different. They have to shift things around and reattach things. So when that baby was delivered they just had to sew up the uterus and then wait for it to go back to orginal. : isn't our bodies a factinating feat of science? Now I really think if you need to know the difference there are sites that can help just research. Good luck with the hunt.

Crazy Question: C section

Hi there

A hyst is very different so a c-section, in fact the only similarity is the fact hat they go through the abdomen.

A hysterectomy has so mny more interna injuries that need to be tended to, and the fact that there will now be a huge space where the uteru used to be. The reason you cannot hold anything heavy for a while is because if you do, you put pressure on your muscles, your muscles squeeze the stuff you do have left and that can cause prolapse etc, and you do NOT want that to happen.

It is not the same at all. I hope this has answered some of the questions for you.

Crazy Question: C section

Thanks for the answers. I knew that there must be a lot different between the two, since the doctor's orders are different. I am too close to surgery to be thinking clearly, if I had thought about that one for a few minutes before I posted, I would have thought it out. Thank you for answering.

Crazy Question: C section

Hi
Good question! I just had my Abdominal hysterectomy Tuesday and I have had three children by c-section. The surgery is similar in that Dr. used my choice of scar (I had the first c-section bikini cut, last two vertical cut). So I have a vertical hyst..

I feel better now than I did after the c-sections, but we don't have new babies to breast feed, etc.. The pain is about the same, but don't let that deceive you because things are VERY different.

Dr. has to go through a lot of old scar tissue and adhesions from the previous c-sections, plus the scraping and moving all the organs around, clamping off organs to remove them, etc. causes a lot more bruising. You have a ZILLION more stitches internally for this surgery than you did for the c-sections. I have a very swollen and black and blue stomach. Just when you think your stomach couldn't possibly get any larger, it does! lol

Just be really wonderful to yourself and act the role of princess and you will be fine. Pay special attention to the not lifting rule and get yourself out of bed and walking as soon as possible. It gets things back in place and the gas moving faster. The gas pain hurt me more than the surgery pain.

take care
hugs
