Re: What improved after the Hyster?
I am glad to hear that you ladies have had improvements since your hysters! Corlaprof: I completely understand about the stain removal...The worst is when you bleed through in the middle of a store!
Nyxks: I am so sorry that you issues have come up since you hyster!
I hope that we all get our lives back! Its sucky that something as small as a uterus and ovaries can control our lives so much!
I have actually thought about making copies of the photos my doc gave me of my uterus and having a "Uterus burning party" to burn the pictures and some pads and tampons! Hooorrrayyy for no more aunt flow!!!

Re: What improved after the Hyster?
sunshine1227: I love not having to wear black pants all the time... I have about 10 pairs so I could wear them all week and change into clean ones if needed while at work. I also love not having to wear shirts and vests with pockets to keep all those pads handy! I think my worst experiences created such a mess and I won't miss having to clean everything all the time to remove stains.
Bleeding through in the middle of a store sounds awful. I stood in an elevator once and felt it going....yuck. Couldn't get out quick enough. Leaving stains on chairs is soooo embarassing. So glad to be rid of it all. It got so much worse so fast.

Re: What improved after the Hyster?
No more aching throbbing hip pain anymore - I would lay in bed at night having these throbbing pains from my hip down my leg. I guess my huge uterus was pressing on a nerve all that time - who knew?! The other thing that's 100% better is the incontinence, completely gone and I'm peeing like a normal person now....I'm glad you asked this question because it makes me really think of how much better things are. I've been concentrating on the tummy soreness and pain even after quite a while after surgery, it's good for me to think about the good things.....

Re: What improved after the Hyster?
It's still pretty early in recovery for me, so I'm expecting to feel better and better as time goes on.
My uterus was completely above my belly button (in addition to a 17 cm fibroid sitting on top of the uterus), which amazed my doctor. Now that the uterus is gone, I have a lightness in my upper stomach which surprised me, because I never knew how heavy and full I felt in my uppter stomach area until the feeling was gone!
Now if my swelly belly would just go away..........

Re: What improved after the Hyster?
The good- It's made my husband and I closer- he took 3 weeks family leave when I was having the wound infection and vac. Being able to wear light colored pants! Not running to the bathroom all the time to check.
The bad- I was never constipated before in my whole life! Now I obsess about my bowels.

Re: What improved after the Hyster?
It is coming up to one year since my hysterectomy. I went to my OB/GYN today for a follow-up to make sure everything was okay. She checked and said everything healed fine and there was no other problems. I don't miss all the bleeding, pain, and anemia. For me the surgery worked. I tried everything else, lupron, hormones, natural remedies they all were a bust. I finally decided to have the surgery, a three year nightmare had to end. I feel fine, I actually have a normal blood count in almost three years!

Re: What improved after the Hyster?
Having my period gone is nice and not having the severe mood swings! My back feels a little better, but the biggest thing that improved is my sex drive because it doesn't hurt anymore! My cervix caused a lot of pain for me as well as scar tissue that is now gone!!

Re: What improved after the Hyster?
One more thing that improved for me is that I am more regular than I ever was before which is a great thing!

Re: What improved after the Hyster?
No more bleeding and being curled up in the recliner drugged up on pain meds every month....no more burning searing pain in my gut every month...
My relationship with my dh is better than ever....the recovery time forced us to really kind of get to know each other again, in different physical ways...instead of going straight to intercourse....My skin does not feel like it is crawling or over sensitive anymore.....I don't cringe and tense up when dh makes advances....our sex life is better than ever!
On my patch I feel the most emotionally stable I have in years.
No regrets!
