Re: Totally Worried

Honeyr34, I'm 40 well past the point to where I want more kids. I have a nine year old daughter. My pains are coming for fibroid's I have. They give me constant pain, I have an IUD due to the fact that when I was bleeding, my periods were very heavy, so heavy in fact, that I had to run to the bathroom with blood streaming down my legs. When I was pregnant with my daughter, she grew right in the middle of my four fibroid's. Just recently, I had to meet with my doctor because the fibroid's are starting to sit on my bladder and that is very uncomfortable and painful. I am scared more than anything because of the fear of the unknown. I'm just ready for this to be over with.

Re: Totally Worried

I understand- my girlfriend had the same issue, she tried the mirena, and it worked well for her. Everyone's body is different, and I had endo, which I still have, the hyst doesn't "cure" that, it is a disease where you can have microscopic edo cells that still get inflamed and cause pain. i am now on an inflammation reducing diet, vitamins, and yoga to help, as well as acupuncture. I don't know if you are keeping your ovaries? The hormones from them help prevent heart disease and osteoporosis- I think having this surgery is a major decision, and if you have exhausted all natural alternatives then go for it, but make sure you know how to care for your body to prevent future complications because honestly it isn't the end. The woman's body is a fine tuned complicated structure, I have been to soooo many Dr's and none of them told me what I found in this book:
Hysterectomy, Ovary Removal & Hormone Therapy: What All Women Need to Know Paperback
by Elizabeth L. Plourde

get the book and read it although you are having the surgery, this woman's story has helped guide me to care for my body in ways I wouldn't have know about or even understood. Also know to care for your pelvic floor, look up pelvic floor exercises, without the uterus there is an increased risk for prolapse. You will feel better, I am sure, good luck, hugs, and honor your body.
