Questions about rectocele repair surgery

I know what your going thru. I have been agonizing about who to go to for surgery. I live in VA and chose a surgeon in TN to do my hysterectomy/rectocele repair on 12/7/07 (nine hour drive). <oops! doctor's name removed as per website guidelines> is supposed to be the best of the best. The link to his website is <admin>. He graciously spoke to me over the phone this morning for over 15 minutes without charging me anything. He explained (if I understood correctly) that he does what's called a "site-specific" repair and avoids the levator ani muscles. This is what causes painful intercourse after the repair. Not very many surgeons are experienced with this newer technique. <admin> trains other surgeons worldwide. I feel such a peace going to <admin> that I cancelled by 11/2 appointment with a doctor in Baltimore, MD associated with <admin>.

Hope this helps. Please let me know what you decide.

Questions

Hi all! I am 6 weeks post-op today. I went back to my urogyn at 4 weeks because I was quite uncomfortable. I understand my rectocele was a 6 inch repair - so it was quite extensive. I also had a cystocele repair and a uterosacral ligament suspension. At 4 weeks all was holding well and healing well.

I am still experiencing some issues - it seems that every few days, I get a feeling like something is drooping - it is quite uncomfortable. I mentioned it to my urogyn at 4 weeks, but she said that all looked well (I thought at first it was my cervix/uterus dropping and was scared to death I might need a hysterectomy now). She checked my cervix, and said that it was sitting well in my vaginal canal (about 4 inches up). When I get it, I just sit down for awhile. I am still babying myself - not lifting anything, etc. since my urogyn said my extensive repair would take 6-8 weeks not the normal 4-6 to heal. I am a bit depressed and frustrated - since I am still not able to get around as I would like and sit upright well. Can anyone identify?
