Pre-Op was very encouraging!

I had my pre-op appt. with my doctor and the hospital yesterday. I brought my list of questions from this website, which was perfect. I will be having a LAVH. She does not seem to think I will have any issues. Obviously, no guarantees, but she was very reassuring. She said I will only need to stay 1 night in the hospital. She gave me my prescriptions for pain and anxiety ahead of time. I actually took the valium last night. I have been feeling quite anxious, and I had some issues with my kids' insurance company that put me over the top. It took the edge off nicely! The most encouraging thing she told me was I should start feeling pretty good in about 2 weeks! She did remind of all the things I still won't be able to do for 6 weeks or so. But I have been really worried about how long on bed rest.

Then off to the hospital I went. I am 32 and in great health (other than this horrible uterus causing me a fit!), so that went very smooth also. They took blood and asked me tons of questions. They gave me some antiseptic solution (basically surgical handscrub) to wash with before coming. It is supposed to help with avoiding infections. I will be getting general anethesia due to having laproscopic.

As far as my diet, I have to be on a liquid diet for the day before, which will be this Sunday, and drink the magnesium nitrate at 6:00 p.m. Sunday. And bowel prep begins!

So with all that said, I just want to say I am feeling very at peace today. I plan to have a fun day with my kids today. My son's flag football championship is tomorrow. We will be celebrating a birthday with family Saturday night. I hope to have a nice relaxing day on Sunday (on liquids only!) And then off to the hopsital on Monday at 11:30 for a 1:00 p.m. surgery.

I have only been visiting this website for a couple of weeks now, and I just want to thank you all! I can't wait to come back and tell you all about my great recovery!

Re: Pre-Op was very encouraging!

Tonya it sounds like you are all ready to go! I was very anxious before my surgery and now that it is over I know I've made THE best decision. I am feeling so great today! I may not even take any pain meds today!!! And I am only 2 days post-op!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

to you while you wait! (It truly is the hardest part!)

Lisa,

That is great! I am so happy to hear you are doing so well. You don't need to hear it from me...but don't push yourself! So I am curious about the abdominal binder????
