9 days post hysterectomy: Swelly belly blues

It's only been a week since surgery, but I am 60 and was fat before.
However a month before surgery I walked up hills, tried to stay in some type of fighting shape for surgery.
Lost 8 lbs and started feeling good.
Had to have the surgery for uterine cancer ( yeah! small tumor and lymph nodes not affected)
It's not that I am ungrateful now that all is out. It's just that I am a terrible patient. My mind says go, body says no!
I'm pretty depressed and anxious to start living again.
But this belly feels like an extra passenger on board.
How can I calm myself down? I think I'm freaking out after reading that people had to wait up until a year for things to settle.
I read this story on line prior to surgery "Dianne's story"
She sounded like her robotic laparoscopic was a piece of cake, and she was up and at em' a week after surgery and back to work!
It made me feel like I wasnt "keeping up"
Now the blinders are off, and I see it's not a matter of "choice" but a matter of individuality. It makes me feel helpless.
I wanted to take a month vacation mid Sept to NY and Canada.
It's only been a week and I'm already going nuts!
Naturally being type A I moved around too much, walking, some light housework, . I'm forced to slow down because even though mind says go, body says no!
I may need to learn to smoke pot
Can anyone else relate? Or am I just an impatient crazy?

Re: Smelly belly blues

Please SLOW DOWN. I am also 60 and over weight. I'm in my 2nd week post op. You had surgery. You had organs removed from your body. Your body needs for you to rest so it can heal. You only get this one chance to allow your body to heal correctly. Please don't blow it. Recovery is difficult . I also have an a+ personality. It's difficult to stay still but I'm doing it. I don't want to do any damage. If all goes well I'll looking at returning to work on week 4. Hang in there. You can do this. Please slow down.
