4 weeks post hysterectomy insomnia. Make it stop please!

4 weeks post op, and I still can't sleep! I'm going crazy. And when I do drift off, I can't stay asleep for more than 2 hrs. I kept one ovary, is there a chance it's not working properly or still asleep from surgery? I've done everything possible to help sleep. I'm actively walking/moving around during the day, no naps, no caffeine, drinking sleepy tea, no electronics/bright screens before bed, lavender oils in a diffuser. Will this ever stop, or should I ask my Dr to help me with something, anything. I didn't know if I should see my gyn for this (since I'm still only 4 weeks post op) or should I be going to my family dr and start having my hormones checked and find help?

Re: 4 weeks post hysterectomy insomnia. Make it stop please!

Sometimes it does take a while for ovaries to get to normal, so that is a possibility, esp if you are also having hot flashes. Are your hours different from pre op? I'm told sleep/wake is very dependent on keeping a consistent getting up time. Going to bed at the same time is important, but rising time more so. I had difficulty recently when my schedule changed, and had to pick a new rising time and stick to it, which did help. Avoiding alcohol might help, too. You are doing most other things already. If you still can't sleep, do talk to your Dr. I've been through times of insomnia, I know how frustrating it can be. I hope it improves soon.
