Know what your doctors plan for you

The advocate part is really important. Know what your doctors plan for you and don't hesitate to question the nurses (and have them contact the dr, if need be).

On the first day after my TAH, we were all on board that I could start having liquid foods (broth, jello etc). On the second day, my gyne came in and said I could start having solid foods. The nurses came in and happened to be there when the solids arrived and snatched the tray off my table, saying I wasn't ready for solids yet because I hadn't passed gas. I made them call the dr on this.

Not sure if the confusion arose because my surgeon was my gyne oncologist and the assistant surgeon was my gyne and they gave conflicting instructions or what.
