Re: Emotional but still have ovaries

TNfarmgal, I know I do push myself, I have a little OCD with cleaning! And with a house full of boys, they don't pick up a thing. You are right though, I do need to take it down a notch! Before I knew I was having surgery I also started working again and decided to take two online college classes! To say the least, it's been a bit crazy and maybe that's why i've been this way, because i'm behind on everything now! I'm trying not to think about wrapping the christmas presents, but my husband said he would start on that project today! Feel good! Have a great day!

Re: Emotional but still have ovaries

If it makes you feel any better, i'm still emotional and Thurs will be six weeks! I have both of my ovaries too! So i'm not sure why either, it might just be the adjustment. I have to say, I was definitely worse in the hospital and first coming home. I'm better now, but if I see a sappy commercial i'll tear up, lol! Each day does get better. How are you feeling otherwise, it's great you are home already! Just try and take it easy! Have a good day!

Re: Emotional but still have ovaries

I just saw my doctor yesterday and I told her about my crying. She said that the ovaries do in fact go into shock and it takes some time for them to get back to normal again.

Re: Emotional but still have ovaries

Hello all - I found this site prior to my surgery (11/16) and was better prepared because of it. Thank goodness! My doctor didn't share much post-op info either.

I've had the emotional issues as well but week 5 ushered in the uber-witch. Major temper flares which I don't normally have. I feel like a crazy person! I met someone two days pre-op and we've been seeing each other but now I think he's afraid I'll be like this forever! I'm a little worried as well. I know I'll still have the hormonal cycles because I kept my ovaries but am hoping this is so severe now only because of all of the mental, emotional and physical trauma I've gone through. Will I ever be normal?

Re: Emotional but still have ovaries

Ya it gets better, hang in there! Your ovaries go into shock from the surgery and the hormones go nutty. I had lots of hormonal issues for about 2.5 months post op. Be patient, be kind to yourself and trust that this too shall pass.

Re: Emotional but still have ovaries

So glad this post was started. Kept ovaries during 11/21 surgery. Week 5 finds me with PMSish symptoms. Irritability & wanting to tear up for no reason. Add the end of day swollen belly & it's ugly! Last night, by the time i got home from work, i looked 7 months prego! I sleep with Mr Heating Pad. Win wearing my "regular" pants during the workday. The buttons at my navel are KILLING ME! I have an incision exactly where the button is set. How convenient.

Wish we had a timeline for the end of swelly belly & wake up of ovaries!

Emotional but still have ovaries

I am 8 days out.. I had my TVH on 12/13... I also started crying today.. I was on my period when I went in to have the surgery... I kept my ovaries also... It would normally be time for my cycle to start over.. We still will fell the same way we felt when we were going to have our period.. My doc said down to the tender breast... They def do not give enough info before hysterectomies are preformed... The docs need to have a class so that we know what to expect....
