Acid reflux...hernia...ulcer... HELP!!!

Went for my pre-op today. My DH asked if I was nervous and to be truthful I'm not nervous about the operation... I'm nervous about my stomach afterwards.I have acid reflux, hernia and an ulcer. I'm more afraid of what will happen later with this.
Can anyone tell me if they have similar problems and what I can do to ease things afterwards. At pre-op today I was told I can take my meds the day of surgery...so that eases my mind a little bit. Is there anything else?

Don't worry!!! When you are being prepped for surgery, they will ask you what conditions you have. TELL THEM!! They can give you a "cocktail" of meds to drink that will calm your tummy down. I have GERD, too, and made sure I let everyone know before my surgery. I had absolutely no problems afterward.

Try not to pay too much attention to all the concerns and complaints you read here. This is a great site for obtaining information and sharing stories, but what you are reading, for the most part, are the extreme cases.......there are many, many, many more success stories out there!

It's been almost a year for me since my TAH BSO, and after 2 years of refusing to have it done, I'm sorry now that I didn't listen to my doctor sooner. I feel great, and I bet you will too!

thanks...I'll let them know when they ask me and i'll let them know even if they don't. They did say that I could take my losec the morning of with very little water. I know that will help.
