Vagina feels swollen

I'm sorry for all the TMI and it's an odd question,
I'm almost 5 weeks post op from a TAH/BSO, and this evening about 4 hours ago, it feels like my vagina is swollen, i'm not hurting, burning, no sex, it just doesn't feel right.
Any Idea's? I'm going to call the doc tomorrow, but, I thought maybe I could get an answer tonight.
Thanks..

Re: Vagina feels swollen

I had that too and it was always worse at the end of the day, especially if I was on my feet more. I think it ties in with the swelling tummy, but if you're not sure then definitely call your doctor to get their opinion.

I'm going on 9 weeks post-op and that doesn't happen anymore. I think it stopped around the 5-6 week mark.

Re: Vagina feels swollen

Cindy,
I had that at about 5-6 weeks post op. I was terrified that it was prolapse. When I had my 6 week check up, he said everything was in place and looked good. Since then I have had that feeling only a few times and I have found that it seems to be right before or right after I had a BM. It feels like my bowels are pressing on my vagina. You should definitely ask your doctor about it.

Re: Vagina feels swollen

Thank you for your responses,
The swelling isn't as bad this morning, so maybe it was that I had overdone it.
Think I'll still call the doc and ask..

Re: Vagina feels swollen

I had it Amit in the beginning of my recovery and now not so much. I had my husband look and he made a disgusted face lol saying it was very swollen....I laugh every time I picture his face lmao. Anyway, I'm curious to hear what your dr has to say

Re: Vagina feels swollen

I didn't call my doc yesterday, we had a death in the family, my DH's uncle. He was a good man..and will be missed...

So, I call today and the doc told me to start driving, resume normal activities, and about the "problem" He said he isn't sure why it would feel swollen, that when I go Monday that they will have a look at it.. I'm thinking.. ALLLL RIGHT... look at it lol SO embarrassing.. haha
and I also told him that I still have pain in my pelvic area when I urinate, and that my family doc done a urine sample and it was fine,
SO... he tells me that after surgery alot of things start to fall and get shifted, THAT my bladder may of fell some.. YAY me right?!

In the last 2 months I have had 3 surgeries and in the hospital for almost 4 weeks.. I'm not ready to be put back 6 weeks again..

Re: Vagina feels swollen

Cindy, I am sorry for your loss. I just wanted to note that I had the "swollen vagina" feeling for at least 2 months, beginning around 1.5 weeks. My surgeon also told me that she did not know what that would be caused by (which startled me, had no one ever really felt this before me lol?) but a friend's doctor said it is just the tissues healing. It would be worse toward the end of the day, I think the more I was on my feet/moved around and later on, lifted, but I had this for at least 2 months. It was my most worrisome concern in my recovery because it just felt so wrong, but my post-op exams were just fine, and I almost never feel that any more. Good to have it checked as it worries you, but many other women on here have written that they have had some version of the swollen feeling down there and/or that something almost felt like it was stuck (like a tampon in wrong), etc. Take care.
