Hibiclens and Tylenol question

My surgery is tomorrow 8/29. My period has decided to wreak one last havoc upon me. I started to get stabbing pain in my lower left pelvic area that shoots down to my privates and rectum. How close to surgery can you take Extra Strength Tylenol?

With the Hibiclens, do you all use it all over your body or just on the areas they will be working around during surgery (abdomen and privates)?

Thanks ladies!

Re: Hibiclens and Tylenol question

These are both great questions to ask your doctor or hospital. You should check with the hospital about *any* prescription meds, OTC meds, vitamins or supplements you take regularly.

I suspect you're going to be okay with Tylenol (acetaminophen) because it's *not* an NSAID and doesn't thin your blood. I was told not to take ibuprofen (which *is* an NSAID) within a week of surgery, but acetaminophen should be okay.

Hibiclens should *not* be used on your privates, anal area, ears, eyes, mouth, etc. It should only be used on skin. But I wasn't told to use it myself, so I don't know if it's just your abdomen or your whole body.

Thank you! I called the hospital and they said I can use Tylenol till 6 hours before my report time.

I agree, run this by your doctor. I was told to use the soap all over, but not in the genital area or face.

Yes, this. I was told to use it all over my abdomen and chest, but not near the genitals or on my face.
