Warm/pink around incision?

Hi - I'm 2 weeks post-op SAH, and had an infection in the tissue around the incision when I was in the hospital, treated with IV antibiotics there plus another week of oral antibiotics after I returned home. I do notice that the area around the incision (about 1 3/4" above, and slightly below) is warm, and *very* slightly pink (it was fairly red when the infection was going on). Is this pretty much normal? The incision itself looks good and is healing well, but I am a bit paranoid about getting the infection back. I was instructed to call if my temp gets above 101 (it's fluctuated between 98 and 99.5, which it probably always does), so I'm not in the danger zone there. Just curious whether this is what others are experiencing...

Warm/pink around incision?

Hi Debbie,

Just keep an eye on it and call the doc if something worries you. Watch your temp and watch for drainage.

Change of subject...94577 that was my zip code when I was a kid...San Leandro? I am thinkin' so unless my memory is warped!

Warm/pink around incision?

Yep - San Leandro indeed!

Yes, I'm just watching it, if a bit obsessively, but just wondered if others feel a warmness around the incision area. Thanks!

Warm/pink around incision?

Very cool! My memory isn't as bad off as I thought! Sorry I didn't address the warmth. My incision was warm before it started weeping but that doesn't mean same will happen to you. Hopefully some other ladies will come along and say a warm incision is normal.

Just please do keep an eye on it. Oh hey..did you grow up in San Leandro or move there as an adult? Two of my brothers are 1 yr older and 1 yr younger than you.

Take Care

Sharon
