When do you call the Dr?????
I had my TAH-BSO on 2-3-10. When they did my surgery the 9cm x 10cm mass that was seen on my right ovary on the CT was now 12cm x 15cm, I had adhesions and I had a liter of blood on my stomach. When they took out my staples, I had brownish yellow drainage coming from my incision and it dehisced. For the past week an a half I have been having a burning pain on my left side by my bellybutton and that area is very sore. According to others on here this is common. With everything I have gone through, how do I know when I need to call the dr????? I also have the pelvic pressure when I go to the bathroom and pretty constant nausea from about 3 weeks post op and loose stools and diarrhea. When I called the surgeon they acted like the nausea and loose stools were no big deal.

If you are at all worried about anything call your doctor, whats normal for one person may not be for another.
Don't suffer if you are concerned.
Look after yourself.

Re: When do you call the Dr?????
Hi Travelinggal63,
While it's true that some of the symptoms you mentioned are quite common after a hysterectomy they should be getting better rather than worse. Do you have a fever? Either way, I think that I would call my doctor. Better safe than sorry after all that you have been through. I'm sorry that you are feeling so poorly and will pray that you get some answers and relief soon.
s,
Lisa

Re: When do you call the Dr?????
No, I don't have a fever. I went to my dr because of the nausea and because my left calf is bigger than my right. I asked her to do a CT of my abdomen, but she just did a KUB and a doppler on my calf for DVT. No DVT and the KUB showed nothing. My lab work is good. I go back to dr on Thursday and am going to ask for a CT again.

Sounds like a good plan. Just remember that if you start feeling worse or you just think something is not quite right don't hesitate to call her...that's what she is there for. Keep us updated!
Remember, we're all cheering you on!!

Re: When do you call the Dr?????
I have called my doc and talked to the advice nurse 4 times since my surgery and I went in once to have my incision checked. The first time I waited until I had a couple of things to ask about, but I didn't worry about that later.
I ended up getting a small infection in my incision at 7 1/2 weeks post-op. My doc said he was glad I called and asked about it. Better safe than sorry.
Anxiety can slow healing, so call if you are worried. Better to hear that you are worried for nothing than to hear that you should have called sooner.
They are being paid to take care of you. Use them if you need.
Hope you feel better sooner.

Re: When do you call the Dr?????
Well, I went to the dr yesterday. She gave me some sample medicine for my stomach and wasn't going to do a C T for the abdominal pain I have been having. I told her I was tired of not feeling good and it was taking a lot out of me and I started crying. I have my CT Monday morning
