7 days to go, and I'm getting sick...

Sore throat, runny nose, headache, body aches. It's just fabulous....ok....not really. How concerned should I be about surgery issues?

It depends on your surgeon my doctor said he would not do my surgery if I was even a little bit sick. I truly hope whatever you have goes away before. Drink lots of fluids and try to rest. I wish you all the best. Contact your doctor and let him/her know.

I have my pre-op appointment this afternoon. I will ask her what to expect. Hopefully it will be a short-lived thing, my kids have all done well & not gotten very sick at all with this.

My surgeon and anesthesiologist were okay with me having a head cold. The big concern was that they wanted to keep it in my head. If it had gone into my chest then they probably would've postponed it a week or so.

I used a neti pot for the first time to help get rid of my cold and I really believe that it helped shorten the length I was sick.

Thanks for that reassurance, wonder where I could get a neti pot on short notice? I don't think I've seen them in stores around here...

I got mine at the drugstore, but some of the chain grocery stores will carry them as well. I got the kind that came with packets of saline mix so that you have the correct salt/saline ratio so it doesn't burn. Other than a really odd feeling - it isn't as awful as I had anticipated it being. I'll do it once a week now just to help keep allergies and colds at bay now.

At pre-op yesterday, the Dr. said that if I had sinus congestion from allergies at surgery they could still proceed, but that if I had any signs of an infection (fever, etc.) they would have to postpone. I'm praying it all clears up before then, and using my new sinus rinse 2x a day, taking Zyrtec & sudafed. I really NEED to be well and get this surgery over with, so I can focus on the rest of my life!

My surgery is the 29th and I woke up yesterday with a cold. I think from stressing about this surgery my immune system was low. I called my family Dr. this morning and they are putting me on an antibiotic because my colds ALWAYS turn into sinus infections.

Should I call OBGYN and let them know also?

I thought I was getting sick last week and I took some Zinc losenges for several days and 2 days of Euchensia and it kicked mine. Might try it
