TVH 4/19 - neck/shoulder pain now

Hi! I had my TVH on 4/19. I feel great in the surgery area, pretty much no pain except for passing gas, just taking 800 mg ibuprofen a couple of times a day. Since I have been home, I have been waking up very early in the morning with awful neck/shoulder pain and a screaming headache. They get better after I am up for a while, but it is making it hard to get enough sleep! Has anyone else had these symptoms kick in after a few days? Someone mentioned that it could be the gas migrating upwards, but honestly, I wasn't ever told gas would be used to distend my belly for the surgery, since it was vaginal with no incisions. Did I miss something here? I know they used gas in my belly when I had my tubal years ago, but no mention was made of it this time. Any suggestions? Thanks bunches, and hope all are well!

Re: TVH 4/19 - neck/shoulder pain now

I had that a few days after. Moving a bit helps and breathing deeply and changing positions. I would get it more when I was in one position and I did have a headache with it, but it did go away - for me by about the 6th day or so... hope this helps.

I had this also and although it seemed weird to me that it was gas, I think it really was. When my belly gas was gone, so was the neck and shoulder pain. Gas x didn't do much for me but you should try it. Also try walking around a bit more and try some Miralax to get your bowels moving a little more.

Re: TVH 4/19 - neck/shoulder pain now

I had it after my tubal, and the nurse did warn me ahead of time that I may have shoulder pain, but I thought she was crazy. She didn't say the reason why, I think she called it "relocated" pain from the belly button incision. Did they cut your belly button?

If I remember, it took about a week before it was gone. I put a heating pad on from time to time to make it feel better.

Wishing you a speedy recovery!

Re: TVH 4/19 - neck/shoulder pain now

Thanks ladies! I kind of remember it too, after my tubal, but I just didn't realize that gas would be used for a TVH. No cutting at all, not even my bellybutton. It goes away as the day goes one, but wow, it really wakes me up in the morning! Thanks for the replies. I'll give it a few more days and see what happens.

Re: TVH 4/19 - neck/shoulder pain now

My husband gave me a fabulous massage last night and I woke up with no gas pain in my shoulders/neck.
