New prolapse occurred 6-7 weeks after initial surgery

About 6-8 weeks after my hysterectomy, I felt a bulge in my perineal area. I just saw a GYN specialist who told me that my bladder, vagina, etc. have prolapsed, the surgery will need to be redone and IT'S GOING TO BE A LONGER RECOVERY!!! I'm trying to understand how common this is and why it's happened to me (I'm a trim 5'4", exercise regularly, and have only had one child!). The OB-GYN who performed the initial surgery said that she had thought about adding more stitches internally but didn't. I'm very upset about this turn of events and would appreciate hearing from anyone who is familiar with this problem.
