Bleeding 55 days post op. Having surgery.

Hello, I am new to the forum. Thank you for all of the wonderful information on this site.

I had an ablation in 2007. No bleeding at all since then. Then on March 29, 2011 I started bleeding heavily and am STILL bleeding. I've had two visits to my GYN. He did ultrasound found no lining/tissue buildup so put me on estrogen 12 days. Then wait seven days start birth control. Stayed on BC til May 5 bleeding heavily the whole time. He said go off BC. I then went to see him this week and he did another ultrasound and this time found lining/tissue buildup on my scar tissue (2 c-sections).

I am concerned about my surgery for a couple of reasons. I will still be bleeding (no doubt!), and Dr says that is not an issue he can still perform surgery.

He will TRY and do vaginal but he said he may have to do an abdominal. I am leaving my ovaries as they are still working. I am 49.

I am worried about the scar tissue if they do an incision. My dr told me after the birth of my second daughter that they had a very hard time with the scar tissue buildup, and he recommended no more children.

Has anyone else had abdominal surgery with a lot of scar tissue buildup, and if so was it difficult during/after/recovery?

I'm hoping I can get my surgery ASAP as I am so sick of the heavy bleeding. I am also concerned about my iron levels as I read on this site that I need to get my iron levels up prior to surgery. I will discuss this with my Dr at my next visit.

Thank you for any advice you might be able to share.

Re: Bleeding 55 days post op. Having surgery.

Ive had 3 csections, all cut on top of each other. Im going in for a DvH and hoping it doesnt turn into an abdominal after Im out. I fear what my scar tissue is going to be like as well. My scars on the outside of my abdomen are pretty hard and tender (always have been) and its the same about 1" out from my scars. Thats a pretty sizeable area of hard tender tissue. I just pray my organs arent glued together with adhesions. Not really offering any advice on that, just know that you arent alone.

Orange juice, and B12 will help boost your absorption of the iron pills

Best wishes!
