Anyone not have swelly belly?

I just had my SAH on June 13 and may be getting a little ahead of myself but I was just wondering is there anyone that did not have swelly belly or it only lasted a couple of weeks? If so, what type of surgery did you have, how active were you prior to hyst., what was your age and what did you do or not do?

I just want to believe that there has to be a way to avoid this problem. I keep reading about indivuals that still have swelly belly after three - six months.

Please advise, I wear a size four and am concerned that I may have to get a new wardrobe if this problem lingers for too long. Not that a new wardrobe would be the worse thing but my husband might feel different - lol.

Anyone not have swelly belly?

It seems to vary a lot. My belly is actually flatter (being a relative measure...) post-hyst. I have had some swelling but it was never as much as I had before and it has gone down. I was afraid I would have a problem with this, being older (51) but not so! I am about a size 12 and am five weeks out from a TAH.

Anyone not have swelly belly?

Im ten months out and 40 pounds lighter, but I still get swelly belly with excess gas at least three times a week, my work out days. Its hard to see it on my gut that I've lost 40 pounds but hey I'm still happy I had the surgery.
32 years old, tah

Anyone not have swelly belly?

I was worried about the swelly belly too. I had alot of work done and my stomache was so swollen for about a week or so, but then it started to go down rapidly, and the swelly belly has NOT been back! My stomache is flatter than before surgery! (not FLAT by any means, but smaller lets say).
I tried on all my work pants (kacki's) and they are all loser. Now I have lost about 7 pounds, but my stomache is still not usually this size. I am a size 6-8 and I am glad I will not have to buy new pants.
It just depends on the person. I am still hoping that one day it will not just pop up out of the blue.
Oh, about how active I was before surgery. Pretty active. I usually do alot, and now I am up and around and on my feet much of the day. Doesn't seem to matter what i do, the swelly belly is not there. I feel really lucky.
Hope you are a lucky one too. Tiffany

Anyone not have swelly belly?

Thanks for all of your responses, you definitely have made me feel better. I know that I am just being vain because the swelly belly is not the main thing because even though it has only been six days I already feel better. But it definitely does put my mind at ease to hear that there are others that do not suffer with this problem indefinitely.

Thanks again
Lisa
