TAH Bladder sling with TAH.. having strong urine smell.. anyone else??

Hi all.. I am almost at 6 weeks, go to the Dr. tomorrow 4/11/11 My urine has a strong odor...I say like a guys, is anyone else having this problem? Will ask Dr. about it tomorrow. Also a strange pain like in my uretha I am guessing, but feels a little like when you take a catheter out..but no burning sensation when I urinate, Idk how to explain it..don't think I have a infection, but will check with Dr. I hope that nothing is damanged.. I had to have a bladder sling as well.. this is the 2nd time..the first one I had back in Sept of 06..A TVT mesh sling.. I have a small bladder so I am hoping now that with the TAH and nothing pressing on it as I laugh or cough that I don't leak anymore.. seems to be working so far. Hope everyone is healing well!

Hi there. I am also almost 6 weeks. I had the same as you, TAH and bladder sling. I do not have any strong urine odour but I do get strange twinges and twangs and various other stabs of pain in my lower stomach. I have no burning, but sometimes after I have been up all day and my swelly belly gets really big, when I lay down it feels very tight and feels like I need to go to pee, even though I just went. I wonder if the sling is too tight but then by morning everything feels better. I now can laugh and cough too with no more leaking. I think with getting both surgeries done at the same time there may be some additional healing to get through. I do not see my doc until the 7 week mark.. so I am very curious if all is well too. Otherwise i am slowly getting back into the swing of things, short walks, short grocery shopping trips, but no sweeping, lifting or carrying, that type of thing.... but this does feel like a bit of a marathon. I am scheduled to return to my work, a desk job at the end of 8 weeks so I am trying to ease into things slowly until then. Hope everyone else is healing well too!

ohio~ I never expected an infection at 9 days post-op, but ended up having UTI so ask your doc to check your urine tomorrow. Hope you feel better soon! robyn
