Post Op Expectations for Abdominal Hysterectomy

Hi! I had an abdominal hysterectomy with the removal of my uterus and cervis on June 19th. I was in the hospital two nights and have been home 5 days. I feel well and have done a little walking (around the house and to the mailbox and the end of a short driveway) and some light housework. I haven't had much of an appetite and have been glad to see the scales creep down over the last week. I want to walk more, but how much is too much? I don't want to realize I've done too much after it's too late.

Re: Post Op Expectations for Abdominal Hysterectomy

I am glad that your recovery is going well and that you are making sure you aren't doing too much. My rule of thumb was that when I felt heaviness in the bottom of my tummy, it was time to go horizontal. That seemed to serve me well and gave me a warning long before I over did it. I hope this helps.
