LSH question
I am scheduled for a LSH on 2-13-07. Doctor said he would go through my belly button and make a small "port" on the left and right side. Does anyone know how big these "ports" are, and are they closed with stiches?

LSH question
The incisions I had on the sides were no bigger than an inch each. Mine were closed with stitches. But when he did my laparoscopy in March, he closed the side incision with glue. He said he only did it because the hospital where he did the surgery was pushing the glue. He doesn't like it as well. And for me, it didn't heal as nicely. So I am glad he was able to do my hysterectomy at a different hospital and was able to use stitches.

LSH question
My side incisions are an inch or a little smaller. My Dr. used the internal disolving stitches on the inside and the glue on the outside.

LSH question
My belly button incision was about 3/4" long, closed by sutures then covered by steri strips. Left and right side sutures were also 3/4" long closed by dissolving sutures then covered by steri strips. Belly button scar totally gone. Left side scar totally gone already. Right side scar light pink (going a little slower because most of the work was done out of the right side) Will probably have no visible scars by 6-8 month mark.

LSH question
My Dr. used 4 incisions. One in the belly button, (this was my 3rd lap, and I can't even see the incision now...all gone!! ) A larger about 1-2 inch incision on my left side, (that is very faint now..looks like a small stretch mark) and the other 2 were very low over my old abdominal/c-section bikini incision. Those 2 were so small, they were mere puncture holes that I wouldn't have even noticed except for the sterri strips. He uses the 4 holes so he doesn't have to keep taking instruments in and out. The larger incision is where he put the morcelator in. (that is the instrument that shreds the uterus). Good luck to you. All my incisions had disolving stitches.

LSH question
bamafan123,
I had an LSH on 1-17-07 and I had 4 incisions, one on my bellybutton was very tiny, one on each side where my ovaries are and were about 3/4 of an inch and the one at my pubic hair area was so small I really couldn't see it. It has been three weeks and they have all lost their scabs except the one on my left side. They were all closed with stiches. I will be thinking of you. You will do fine and if you feel as good as I do, will wonder why you didn't have it done sooner.

LSH question
Thank you so much. That makes me feel better. How was your recovery? How long was it before you were up and around again?

LSH question
My LSH was 1/25 and I had 3 incisions, too. Mine were closed with glue, and have been pretty satisfied with the results. The right incision is larger because of the morselator, but neither have given me a bit of problem.
I have been nothing but pleased with the results of my surgery. I go for my 2 week check up today, and plan to post in post op after that...

LSH question
bamafan123,
My surgery was on Wed and I went to out to eat on Sat. I kept my cervix however my uterus and ovaries were removed. It seems the lapascopic sugery is easier than the others. You just have to judge it yourself. I went slowly for the first few days but my DH and I could not get over how good I felt. Just don't over do. It is three weeks out and I have only had two bad days however I haven't done housework at all and just rested when I was tired. Our 16th wedding anniversary was 2-2 and we actually went out of town for a few days. We drove about 3 hours to our destination and we stopped to let me stretch and walk. I would not recommend this unless you have done as well as I have. My problem is sleeping which it seems goes along with hysterectomy. I will talk to my Doctor when I go next Wed. for my 4 week check up. Let me know how you do.

LSH question
I just wanted to add for my Lap that I had three, the belly button and two on the side, but the three were stapled and they were very small.
A week later I can see the little marks but they are healing nicely. My poor belly button though hurts, but I have a really deep innie button, the Doc had a hard time getting the staple out, so he said it would take a little longer for it to heal due to how deep my belly button is.
