is this normal?

i am over two weeks out since TAH and I have had brown spotting, i know that's normal. and my pain has been on and off, mostly able to get by with ibu600 round the clock and the occassional percoset.

here's the question:
last night i had really bad pain and this morning the blood is bright red and there is more than usual. it's not really a lot, not even like a normal period amount, but it concerns me because the doc didn't mention this, and it's the most blood since the surgery.

Anyone else have these symptoms? Should I be worried?

I asked my Dr about this at my 2 week checkup - was told since I kept my cervix, this may happen, although she tried to cotorize my uterus as best she could. I started spotting, then bleeding (yellowish to brown then bright red then brown) after week two for 11 days. I thought it was because my daughter had started her period and my body was following her (as we did before). I also had a little spotting after sex the first time.

After it stopped, I haven't had it happen again, and my daughter just finished another cycle. Also no repeated problem after sex again.

i'm confused. do you still have a uterus?

No AH with removal of ovaries but they kept my cervix....everyone is confused by this, anyone else still have their cervix? I thought they kept it because I was not at a high risk for my bladder falling???

Well, first off I would say if you are having "really bad pain" you really need to contact your doctor...that is what they are there for and they would be the best to answer your questions.

As far as bleeding/spotting goes - my doctor said that it can start a little bright red again but that just means you might have pulled an internal stitch a tad (I was concerned about straining during a bowel movement)...but that it shouldn't be anything more than slight spotting.

Hope everything is fine with you and that perhaps you just overdid it for the time being. I know for myself that standing up for a prolonged period of time (like making dinner tonite) puts a lot of strain on my abdominal/vaginal area but usually it gets much better after I sit for a while.

thanks NPWriter. i really appreciate your post. i did call the on-call doctor who told me what to look out for and to go to the ER if symptoms of an infection show up. also she said to take it easy this weekend and try to get in to see my regular doc on monday, which i will. no signs of infection, thankfully.

i went back on the percosets yesterday, which helped w/ the pain, and the bleeding has calmed down. i'll call the doc tomorrow. i don't think i overdid anything as i've been really cautious, even borderline "milking it". LOL
