Anyone have to go to urinate alot at night?
I think I'm up at least four times to go to the bathroom at night. I'm so tired. The same thing happens if I try to take a nap in the daytime. Doesn't bother me when I'm up.

Re: Anyone have to go to urinate alot at night?
I am 7 weeks post op and it has only been the last week or so that I havent had to get up a ton when I sleep. My doctor said it was because he worked on the bladder and irritated it. That caused it to spasm more and when I had very little in there it was enough to irritate the bladder and the spasms made me feel like I had to go. It does get better, although I know how frustrating it is to have to keep getting up when all you want to do is sleep.
If it isnt better by your 6 week appt. then ask your doctor what he/she suggests.

I don't think my bladder was worked on, but my six wk. checkup is next week. I had never had a catheter before this surgery. I think that had something to do with it. I don't know. Thanks for your response!

Re: Anyone have to go to urinate alot at night?
I guess I could have explained that better the first time
Mine was adheared to my pelvic wall and had my uterus pressing down on it but even if you dont have "work" done on it the doctor has to move it around during surgery and find a new support for it once your uterus is gone (the uterus helps in holding the bladder in place) so it was still "messed with". That can cause it to be irritated and spasm. But again I would ask your doctor because he/she might have another explination for you.
I hope it gets better for you soon. One quick question, are you drinking more then you used to? I find when I am not at work or running around I tend to drink more...good thing for me that it is usually water after my 2 cups of morning coffee...that also makes it so I have to go more during the night.

Yes, I'm sure it had to be moved around some. That's what I've been thinking. But, it sure is annoying. Especially, when I go right before I get in bed and almost immediately I feel like a little more could come out. So, up I get, and it's just a little bit. But, during the night, I really have to go.

Yes, it's the same for me. I do drink a lot more water now to help with my digestion. And, I suppose my bladder is still adjusting to the higher intake of fluids. Also, I do drink coffee too. I don't mind getting up too much, because I'm still napping during the day.

Re: Anyone have to go to urinate alot at night?
I go more often at night as well. I never used to wake up to go to the bathroom at night. I am only three weeks post op. I associated my new bathroom visits with the catheter which caused a bladder infection then drinking a lot more water, juice, and tea than normal to over compensate for the infection. I hadn't thought of the manipulation during surgery. Makes sense! It is starting to slow down. I am down to two visits per night!

Re: Anyone have to go to urinate alot at night?
Im in the same boat as most of you. I didn't have specific bladder work but did have a catherter for about a day.
The doc says it is the trauma and will quite it down. I have found that week 2 is starting to feel that way. I slept through the night last night. Y AHOO
