3 months post hysterectomy.

I am three months post op. I had the LAVH. Not every day but very at least a few times a week I feel pain. Is this normal? I thought after this long I would never have pain. Also sex hurts and I can sometimes cramp for an hour or two after. I normally recover from things quick. After each of my children, all natural child births, I was home within 24 hours feeling great. This procedure has knocked me on my butt. I have no energy ever and I have gained so much weight. HELP~

Re: 3 months post op

I had a bout of crampiness around month 5, and also sometime in the last 2 or 3 weeks (6 months). Usually it's come with having done something intense. It's manageable because the pain is dull, not even requiring ibuprofen, but it IS annoying to still get it.

I don't have any insight on the cramping you're experiencing after sex. I'm hoping other Sisters have some thoughts or advice.

As for how long this recovery takes? Oh, yeah. I think it throws many of us a curve ball on the time it takes for full healing. I figured I'd be good to go at 3 months, but as I said above, I've still had post-op annoyances recently. It's slowly gotten better. It's not you, and you're not alone!

Re: 3 months post op

I am also 3 months post op. Still very swollen belly and very sore to touch. I had complications with my hysterectomy so had to have a second surgery to correct an intestinal blockage. Taking a long time to heal. Can't wok out like I used to. Hoping to feel better by six months post op.

Re: 3 months post hysterectomy.

I've started physical therapy recently. I think it is helping a little with the swelling and breaking up scar tissue as well as strengthening the pelvic floor muscles. Check with your doctor, it's worth a try to aid recovery.
