Just days away & can't stop eating!

I'm scheduled for SILS on Tuesday at 8:00 a.m. I think I'm managing the stress of doing all of this on my own quite well, but I've noticed I've fallen into an old pattern of eating myself to death. :-(

In the last two years I have significantly changed my diet, habits & life. The result of which has been a 40 lb weight loss, feeling physically & mentally better than ever & greatly improved confidence. I know better than to eat the way I've been eating lately. I know how it makes me feel. But, here I've been for over a month now (off & on, but mostly ON for the past week+) eating queso, gummy worms, doritos, candy bars, cookies, burgers, pizza... you name it! And I eat until it hurts, then take my "tummy pills" (homeopathic tabs I swear by) & then eat some more!

What is wrong with me???

I only end up hurting myself; making my belly upset & swollen with gas. I know this is only going to make matters worse for me as far as surgery & recovery goes. Not to mention the nearly 10 lbs I've put back on. :-(

Has anyone else ended up falling into bad habits just before surgery &, if so, how did you pull yourself back out of it?

Re: Just days away & can't stop eating!

It sounds as if you are comfort eating. Understandable as this is a difficult and emotional surgery. Maybe try to keep yourself as busy as possible. You know that eating like that is bad for you, as you said. You will also be on restricted eating at least the day before your surgery, if your instructions are like mine.

This is a tough surgery to deal with. Hang in there. We are here to support you and help you through this..
