Have Fibroids and a prolapsed bladder

I am so don't know what.... I go in for a ultrasound next week and things have gotten worse my fibroid are blocking my colon and making it very difficult to POo if at all with Lax. My fibroid baby was 14 weeks ( lol we call him Roy) Did not even know they were there. Last checkup there was none I went in for the Bladder thing. Now cant sleep or sleep all the time.

The unknowing is driving me nuts. The thought of being off work for 6 weeks I dont have close to that in my PTO bank and I don't know how we can make this work. I can't go back untill i can lift 50lbs.

How long will that take? can I get Unemployment after i feel good but cant lift?

Re: Have Fibroids and a prolapsed bladder

Hi Penelopejinx - I have to say, I can totally sympathize. I'm going through the same stuff - my bladder is a pancake, and I feel like I have to poop all of the time. Pain and pressure. Oh, and yeah, my sleep has been totally whack. Hello, rollercoaster ride!

I don't go in for surgery until April 26, so I can't tell you about the recovery (yet!) I never named any of mine, but they appear to be reproducing like rabbits. Good riddance to every one of them!

Re: Have Fibroids and a prolapsed bladder

Go to the link for hysterectomy post op checkpoints and look for weight restriction limits for the different post op weeks. I'm not sure where 50 pounds falls, but it is pretty late in the recovery.I'm at 6 days post op now, so I can't lift anything yet.

Re: Have Fibroids and a prolapsed bladder

Hang in there, Penelopejinx! Do you feel comfortable talking to your employer about working out a plan that will allow you to heal and come back when you're ready? If you do, I would ask them if there's any way they can work out a solution based on your doctor's assessment of required down time. Also, do you have any family or friends that can help you out during this time?

Re: Have Fibroids and a prolapsed bladder

Dang, you would think a major hospital would be more willing to help you. Have you met with the HR department yet, or just spoken with your immediate supervisor? It's crazy that you need to deal with this when you've already got a lot to worry about!

Re: Have Fibroids and a prolapsed bladder

Lifting 50lbs is not something I will ever do again. Those of us who have prolapse repair have different restrictions for our future (or so I thought). I am 17 weeks post op and was only cleared for 20 lbs and under at 12 weeks. I was also told that it should be rare, not constant. I am confident that I still have not lifted over 10 lbs.
