A real stupid question

I had my cervix and uterus removed-kept ovaries. Does everyone get a vaginal cuff?? And what does that mean?

If I am right the vaginal cuff is the top of the vagiinal canal where the cervix was. I had mine removed along with the rest of the stuff my radical hysterectomy...lol

I asked my doctor to explain it to me and he even drew a picture. He's no artist but it helped me understand what was done in there.

Cuff sounds weird to me, like they add or really change something, but my understanding is that it's just the area at the top that gets stitched a bit after they remove the cervix.

My doctor said they cut around the cervix, pull it out, and then sew the opening closed.
