Good luck and be strong. You r stonger than you think. If u have time plan ahead and make some meals an freeze ahead of time. I had my surg on 1-20-2011 and i was a complete basket case. I was more nervous about everything that had to be done and care dor a 18 month old that surgery was not even scary. The good news is it all does work out and things get done god bless and your in my prayers

I want to write a longer response but for now I'll go with this:

I wish I had read this earlier. We had our surgeries on the same day and we could have supported each other.

Re: 9 days to go and my support network is falling apart!

Hope your surgery went well. I too have a support system that is falling apart. I have my surgery in 4 days and my husband has been a jerk. I am almost wanting to tell him to NOT take the days off and call a cab! I just found this site so I am hoping to find some helpful tips. Again, hope you are doing well, my thoughts go out to you! Glad I'm not the only one! Thanks!

You've done a great job getting ready....I want to come over to your house and watch DVDs with you after your surgery, lol! Good luck, I'm sure you'll do just fine.

Thank you ladies, for your good thoughts and wishes and support, it really helped. And yes, he did come around in the end, I think whoever said he was scared was right, and maybe that's true for the other ladies who say their partners are being complete jerks! Or maybe men really just are complete jerks, LOL, if we women ruled the world it'd be a much kinder nicer placer :-)

So glad to hear that everything has turned around. There are a lot of men out there that just don't know how to take on the nurture role. They get sick or have surgery and they get doted on because it all comes natural to a woman to be the nurturer. And, they become whiny and whimpering little babies. When it's our turn to get sick or have surgery, the typical man that takes on the 'hunter/gatherer' mentality often times have a freak out because there's a change in their household routine. Some of them try really hard to be a nurturer in that time of need, and sometimes it is comical to watch, especially when it comes to all things domestic if they are not the one that does a majority of the chores.
