8 days post-op

It's been over a week now since the surgery! I was home 4 hours after they finished. Absolutely no nausea, so grateful for that! I have had a couple of hard days where all I could do was sleep. Most others I've had more energy than I can possibly use. I have to really concentrate on not over-doing it. It feels like I am invincible at this point, but, I do feel it when I do too much. I expected to feel kind of empty where my uterus was, but I feel like it is still in there. Maybe I have some swelling? My follow-up appointment was rescheduled until next week because Doc is out of town, so I couldn't ask the questions about this that I'd planned. Could be normal, but I'm just not sure. The 3 surgery sights are healing quickly, (my bellybutton is taking the longest) starting to itch so much! A nice warm shower helps with the itching. My many pillows and heating pad have been so very helpful. Gas-X, stool softeners, and Advil....must haves. Gatorade seems to help invigorate much more than just water. Hyster-sisters has been such a giant help to me. I knew absolutely nothing before finding this wonderful site. It helped to prepare me for every step of this journey. Such amazing women for sharing their experiences with us newbies. Thank you, thank you, thank you

Great to hear you are healing well, try not to over do it though sister. Pamper the Princess while you are "allowed" to do so. Recovery, in my opionion, doesn't last quite long enough.

Re: 8 days post-op

It is very interesting that you expected to feel an empty spot where your uterus was and aren't experiencing that sensation. I was the same. I fully expected to feel kind of hollow considering my uterus was the size of a volleyball but somehow, I never had that empty sensation. I had very minimal swelling so I am sure that the swelling did not fill the space.

I am glad you are healing so well. Just remember to take good care of yourself by eating well, drinking lots of water, walking as much as your body will let you (when you feel heaviness at the bottom of your tummy, that means it is time to go horizontal) and rest a lot.

Re: 8 days post-op

Thanks, I need to let myself relax, it is really hard to. Yes, I had read a few posts about women feeling empty afterwards, but don't have that sensation. So very happy to have had this done. I can feel my energy returning. I appreciate the kind words so very much! <3

Re: 8 days post-op

Belly-button itching and taking a bit longer than everything else to heal- been there done that and sounds like laproscopic. I had laproscopic surgery for gall bladder removal in february of 2011 so I can honestly say that I know what you mean by hot showers help relieve the itch for a short bit- I would stand in a hot shower for up to 30 minutes just to get some relief time. Hang in there though- laproscopic incisions heal before you know it. Mine healed in 7 days.
